Intel's Plan to Replace Copper Wires

Now Intel plans to sell inexpensive cables with fiber-optic-caliber speed to connect, for instance, a laptop and an external hard drive, or a phone and a desktop computer. At the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco Wednesday, the company announced a new type of optical cable that it hopes will be fast, cheap, and thin enough to make it an attractive replacement for multiple copper wires.

WiMAX's Role in Untangling Traffic Problems

We've all seen the cameras at busy intersections, looming atop the traffic lights, ready to catch us if we dare to run a red light. These cameras are part of the now well-known "Red Light Running" program, where sensors detect red light violators and quickly snap a photo of both the license plate number and the driver. While nobody seems to appreciate the program when they receive their ticket in the mail, the program definitely works - some cities have seen as much as a 90 percent decrease in red light running-related accidents.

SRA awarded US$53.5 million cyber security task order by Department of Homeland Security

SRA International, Inc, a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations and commercial clients, has been awarded a task order by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the EAGLE contract vehicle to monitor its information technology (IT) enterprise and assess IT security threats. Barco unveils color-stable, LED-lit rear-projection videowall display

Barco has announced its new series of LED-lit rear-projection displays. The full HD (1920x1080) LED-based videowall system features low-maintenance and saturated colors. The OL video wall series also features the company’s unique Sense6 color calibration and stabilization technology. The LED-based projection series consists of the rear-accessible OL and front-accessible OLF videowalls. During the introduction phase, both are available as 127cm (50in) and 179cm (70in) screen sizes.
